About PharosPrep

Built by someone
who's sat where you're sitting.

Not a company that hired subject-matter experts to write a course. A licensed professional who kept getting frustrated with prep material and finally built the thing he wished he'd had.

Where it started

I'd always been fascinated by the financial industry, but I didn't really understand what that meant until I was hired into a sales role that required a FINRA license. Before that, what I knew about the industry came from movies — The Wolf of Wall Street, Margin Call, The Big Short. Going in, I found a much more realistic picture of the world than any of that prepared me for.

The problem with every prep course

As with any industry, there are learning moments everyone in the financial world has to go through — and for licensed professionals, that's the exam process. Every time you need a new license, you either use whatever your company hands you or you go find your own study materials. Every single time, I ran into the same problem.

None of them actually told you where you needed work. You got handed "the book," then you started answering questions — but there was no way to look at what you were studying and see where you were actually struggling, no system that adjusted to that in real time. No way to know, when test day came, that you were genuinely ready.

"You'd study for weeks and still walk in not knowing if you were actually prepared, or just hoping."

Why PharosPrep exists

Going through SIE, Series 6, Series 7, Series 63, Series 66, and my insurance licensing, that frustration kept repeating. Eventually I decided it wasn't just worth fixing for myself — it was worth building the way I believed it should work from the start: a system that identifies your weak areas automatically, adjusts what it gives you next, and gives you a real signal of readiness before you ever sit down at the testing center.

That's what PharosPrep's tiered system is built to do — take you from foundational recall through to exam-level judgment, and tell you honestly when you're ready, not just when you've run out of material.

Why "Pharos"

Pharos was the lighthouse of Alexandria — one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, built to guide ships safely to harbor. That's the idea behind the name: PharosPrep isn't just a pile of practice questions. It's meant to be your guide through the material, all the way to the exam and out the other side.
